Our Story
Once upon a time many years ago, there was a camp in an old church in Atwater Village. It was named Greatest Debate Bootcamp and consisted of one coach (me) and six kids.
Boxes filled with paper, folders, sumo books, and bracket sheets of the work we did that summer are treasured and still stored somewhere in my backyard shed. It was “cozy” with just the seven of us, six hours a day, and for the whole week!

We've Changed
Today, I am proud to say GDB takes in 80 kids, and more than a dozen high school coaches a summer with that number increasing every year.
The first-ever winter GDB session proved to be a wonderful success. As I watched kids play the games and hang out at lunch, I began to see in a new light what GDB does and why it’s so special.

Only At GDB
Where a debater is:
- asked to consistently step outside their comfort zone in public speaking
- required to expand their methods and perspectives in order to succeed
Where a student:
- gets the opportunity to consistently readdress challenges and failures in a specific manner
- collaborates and competes using incredibly profound or hilariously absurd topics

Ideas to the Public
A GDB debater also has the unique opportunity daily to display their growth and maturity while in a public setting, dining with peers and their coaches at local restaurants every day, exercising responsibility for their actions and spending.

The bootcamp duration is Monday to Friday (9:30 AM - 3:00 PM).

Our camp is open to students entering grades 5th – 9th, head to our registration form to get started!

GDB does not supply meals by default, although an epic pizza party is not out of the question! If you need special accommodations regarding lunch, please feel free to reach out.
